Calling All Cooks! Share Your Best Recipes for a Cause…

New Cook Book to Benefit Second Harvest

One of the ways we show loved ones we care is to prepare a wonderful, comforting, home-cooked meal. Yet according to NPR.org, Some 38 million people in America are considered "food insecure" -- they have trouble finding the money to keep food on the table. “Melting Pot” is working to give them a taste of home.

Beautiful Media LLC, (www.beautimedia.com) an Atlanta-based publishing company, along with The Marise Gouthier Foundation (www.marisefoundation.org) is sponsoring a national recipe drive in search of content for a recipe compilation, Melting Pot, The New American Family Cook Book. Selected recipes will be featured along with family photographs and stories in a cookbook compilation entitled “Great American Cooks”, a tribute to American traditions. The publication is scheduled to be available on the 4th of July.

The call for submissions is open to the general public. All food categories are included - main dishes, appetizers, and desserts, with a focus on, secret family recipes. Winners will be selected based on the creativity of their dishes and the photographs and stories provided. The recipe along with photograph provided, and a recipe story will be showcased in the book with a full-page tribute. Recipe submissions will be accepted until 5:00 PM EST, June 10, 2008. All entry submissions should to be sent to: Melting Pot c/o The Marise Gouthier Foundation, 5652 Kingsport Drive, Atlanta, GA 30342. Online submissions are now being accepted on www.marisefoundation.org.

“We will accept recipes in any category”, said Katherine Phelps, CEO of Beautiful Media, LLC. and Publisher of “Melting Pot, “but we are especially looking for cherished family secrets that are so much a part of Americana and a tribute to our culture and heritage. Second Harvest, a non-profit 501c-3 company dedicated to feeding the hungry across the nation, was chosen as the recipient of a portion of the profits from each book. This fundraiser is a fun spirited opportunity for everyone to come together for a chance to show off their best recipes and to feed the hungry across the United States!” Selected chefs will receive a limited edition copy of the cookbook and recognition on www.marisefoundation.org website.

The participation fee of $25.00, will be used for a donation to Second Harvest, and towards production and printing costs. The fee should be sent along with the recipe, a photo, (no originals, please) a signed letter of agreement permitting usage of the recipe and photograph and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to “Great American Cooks” 5652 Kingsport Drive, Atlanta, GA 30342.

Upon release, the book “Melting Pot” will be available at retail outlets, on the Marise Gouthier Foundation website at www.marisefoundation.org., and through Amazon.com.
